Child Molester Receives Hundreds of Years in Prison

Terry Eugene Break sentenced to six life sentences plus 586 years in prison for sex crimes.

Sentencing took place for Terry Eugene Break on Friday, November 12th. Break was convicted of raping someone under the age of 14, sexual indecency with a child, sexual assault of a child, engaging children in sexually explicit material, and possession of child pornography. The sentence Break received totaled 6 life sentences plus 586 years.

David Ethridge, Prosecuting Attorney for the 14th Judicial District said in a Facebook post, “On Friday, November 12th, the people of Boone County spoke again when a jury sent Terry Eugene Break to prison for six life sentences and 586 years for charges of rape of someone under the age of 14, sexual indecency with a child, sexual assault of a child, engaging children in sexual explicit material, and possession of child porn.

For the 14th Judicial Prosecuting Attorney’s Office this began in March of 2019. With the help of the Omaha School Resource Officer, Boone County Sheriffs Office, Arkansas State Police, Grandma’s House Child Advocacy Center, Arkansas State Crime Lab, and Arkansas Department of Human Sevices, a number of victims were identified and interviewed. In a search of the home several electronic devices were taken where child pornography was located. Deputy Prosecutors Devon Still and Brad Brown along with Victim Witness Coordinator April Benefiel and her dog Augustine and the many other staff of the Boone County Prosecutors office worked over the next two and a half years to prepare the victims and the evidence to be heard. It was a great example of what these organizations do best, protect our kids. A special thanks to Brent Jones, Jason Brisco, Brad Duck, Mike Tramell, Buster Rinks, and all of Grandmas House for the dedication to making this happen! And to all of the victims, you guys are why we do what we do…you’re the hero’s in this story!”

Boone County Sheriff Tim Roberson joined KHOZ’s Around The Table on Monday, November 15th, and gave some limited history on the case indicating that it goes back approximately ten years, but was only prosecuted in the last two to three years.

He said that ten years ago, “For whatever reason we didn’t have the all the right pieces of the puzzle to put all of that together.”  He went on to encourage the public to call law enforcement with any information they have about a case no matter how insignificant it may seem at the time because as he says “it may be nothing until we put it together with ten other things and then it’s huge.”

The Sheriff went on to talk about his hope to see a sex crimes task force develop in the 14th Judicial District that would operate similarly to the Drug Task Force already in place.
