The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks has issued an Emergency Appeal for Type O Negative Blood.
Chris Pilgrim, Media Relations Representative for the CBCO, says during an interview Monday on KRZK's Ozarks Now that while O Negative itself is not a common Blood Type, it is the Universal Type given to people who have an unknown Blood Type so the current demand has far exceeded the available donors.
Pilgrim also says that the donor numbers have varied at the Blood Drives and the Blood Center making it difficult to gage how much blood will be available.
Pilgrim says donations will be taken for all blood types at the Blood Centers in Springfield, Joplin, Bentonville, and Springdale as well as at area drives including one coming up this Thursday at Eureka Springs High School.
