Branson Fire Marshall Struck While Changing Tire on I-44

An off-duty Fire Marshall for the City of Branson sustains serious injuries after being struck be a vehicle while he was changing a flat tire on his vehicle.

In a press release from the City of Branson, Mayor Larry Milton expresses his well wishes to Dennis Brunner after he was struck changing the flat tire Saturday night around 7:45 on 1-44 east of Strafford according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Accident Report. 

According to the accident report, Brunner sustained serious injuries while a passenger in the vehicle sustained minor injuries when a driver hit both pedestrians and a wheel on the vehicle which then landed in the middle of the highway where another vehicle struck it. Neither of the other drivers were reported as injured while Brunner was taken for treatment of his injuries to Cox South Hospital in Springfield. Brunner is expected to recover from his injuries according to the City of Branson Press Release.

“Dennis’ impact on our community, not only the work he does but what he contributes personally, is evident by the amount calls we have received from concerned citizens and community members. He is in our hearts and prayers and we wish him a speedy recovery,” Mayor Milton says in the press release. 

Branson Fire Rescue wants to remind drivers to slow down and move over, not only for emergency vehicles but for all vehicles as well. If drivers have to pull off on the side of the road for any reason, pull over as far as possible, turn on hazard lights and keep a flashlight available for emergencies.
