A young male is dead after a fall off of a bluff at the Buffalo National River.
According to a release posted on the Buffalo National River Website, a 13-year-old boy was walking with a friend near Brewer Bluff when he lost his footing and fell off the bluff. The Searcy County Sheriff's Office was notified about the incident and was joined by Park Staff and Buffalo National River Search and Rescue volunteers to begin efforts to reach the victim. Firefighters from Harrison and Marshall also responded to the scene as did personnel from Survival Flight. Rescuers eventually reached the victim who was unresponsive.
Additional information provided to KTLO by the Searcy County Sheriff's Office indicates the victim was from St. Joe.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and lead by the National Park Service and the Searcy County Sheriff's Office.
