Divers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol recover the body of a 12-year-old boy who drowned in Table Rock Lake Friday afternoon.
The initial report from the Central Crossing Fire Protection District stated crews were dispatched to an area east of the Shell Knob Bridge around 1:00 for a report of a boy who went under the water a few moments after witnesses reported the boy struggling. Central Crossing personnel were joined in a search for the body by Barry County 911, Mercy EMS, Barry County Sheriff, Missouri Highway Patrol, and the Southern Stone Fire Protection District. A later post indicated that the body was located near the dock he jumped off of around 8:50 Friday evening.
According to the official report filed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the boy was overcome by the wind and waves which eventually overcame him with the body recovered a short distance from the dock.
This is the second drowning in Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol in 2025.
