JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A Missouri bill would require all public school students to participate in at least 60 minutes of physical education or “moderate physical activity” each school day, starting next school year.
Missouri State Rep. Bishop Davidson (R-Republic) has introduced House Bill 2748 for the ongoing legislative session, which would ultimately increase physical education requirements for K-12 students statewide.
According to the bill’s language, school districts would be required to ensure “all students participate in supervised moderate physical activity for the entire school year, including students in alternative education programs.” Students would further be required to “participate in moderate physical activity for a minimum of sixty minutes [or 1 hour] per day.”
