Tammy Drake of the Health Department says that the National Nutrition Week began in March of 1973 and expanded to the entire month of March in 1980 go provide awareness and information on nutrition options. Drake says that the theme of this year's event is "Celebrate a World of Flavors" which embraces global cultures and cuisines.
