Area Chamber Begins "Boat Smart" Initiative

The Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce begins an initiative that promotes safety for motorist on the water.

According to a release from the Chamber, the "Boat Smart Table Rock Lake" campaign is designed to promote three core values for navigating the lakes: Safe Boating, Clean Water, and Fun & Adventure.

During a recent interview on KRZK's "Ozarks Now" Program, Chamber Executive Director Sheila Thomas says an increase in inexperienced boaters was a factor in doing the initiative.

More information on the initiative can be heard on the segment below from "Ozarks Now" plus the full release from the Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce:

The Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce today announced the launch of its Boat Smart Table Rock Lake initiative. The mission of the initiative is to promote three core elements to boaters navigating the waters of Table Rock Lake. Those three core elements are: Safe Boating, Clean Water, and Fun & Adventure.

“The Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce, along with our members, wants everyone to enjoy Table Rock Lake,” said Sheila Thomas, President/CEO of the Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce. “Table Rock is a popular destination for boating, and we’re seeing more first-time boaters and first-time lake visitors than ever before. Our goal with the Boat Smart Table Rock Lake initiative is to help boaters understand the elements of safe boating, as well as keeping the lake clean while having fun.”

Boat Smart Table Rock Lake is a multi-media campaign designed to educate and remind boaters about safety rules, boating etiquette and the importance of keeping our lake clean. A free printed publication will be available, as well as a social media campaign and a dedicated webpage.

The initiative is made possible by the support of 18 Chamber member businesses. The free publication can be picked up at those businesses or the Chamber office, while supplies last.

Boaters can find a list of supporting Chamber members, order the publication direct form the Chamber, and find other Boat Smart Table Rock Lake information by navigating to VisitTableRockLake.com. The Chamber encourages boaters to follow its Facebook page (facebook.com/VisitTableRockLake).

The Chamber is also encouraging its member businesses to share information about Boat Smart, and to participate in Wear Your Life Jacket to Work Day May 21.
