The approval of a revised Cooperative Agreement between the City of Branson and the Historic Downtown Branson Community Improvement District has been delayed.
The agreement was up for a first reading at the Tuesday Board of Aldermen meeting but a lengthy discussion began when Ward 2 Alderman Glenn Schulz made a motion to postpone the first approval to clear up issues dealing with Liability Insurance and to delete a section that requires the district to reimburse the city for enhanced services. Schulz argued that CID has shown they are willing to work with the city and help pay for those services and it would not be right to mandate them to pay a percentage of revenues on top of that.
During the discussion, Mayor Larry Milton and City Administrator Cathy Stepp said they fully support the downtown organization but they were trying to make an agreement that was in line and fair with other agreements while attorney for the CID Gregg Dorman and CID Board Member Cris Bohinc pointed out that the board did not seek a new agreement and wanted to be treated fairly.
In the end, the Cooperative Agreement approval was postponed until the next Aldermen Meeting on May 26.
