A major development in Nixa is getting underway after a groundbreaking last week.

According to a release from the Nixa Chamber of Commerce, 14 Mill Market will be a 12,000 square foot space located on Mount Vernon street for mini-kitchens or restaurants to locate with community seating and a spot for live outdoor events. The groundbreaking Friday was attended by several dozen individuals and community leaders, who shared the impact this project will have for the downtown area. The project for completion of the new venue is this Fall.

More information from the Nixa Chamber of Commerce is below:

The Nixa Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the new 14 Mill Market coming to Nixa at 203 E. Mt. Vernon St.

While the mill structure was not ancient, the land on which the mill stood is a very early settlement of what became Nixa. The Albert Stiffler family would have built a log cabin home where the nearby Nixa Monument Co is located in 2021. The Stiffler farm and their barn and out buildings etc were in the area where Barney Wisner built his new mill in 1956 and stood until it had to be demolished in 2021 to make room for the new 14 Mill Market. The Callahans have saved many elements from the original feed mill and will be repurposing many items into the new project.

The 14 Mill Market will be a 12,000 square foot food hall where it will have 10 different vendor spaces, described as “mini kitchens or restaurants”. There will be community seating, a bar, outdoor entertainment activities, and an outdoor stage for live concerts. This is a place where families and friends of all ages can come to hang out, enjoy great food, music, and entertainment. This concept will allow chefs that either have catering trucks or ideas that don’t have the ability to or want to go to their own brick and mortar style facility. They can come in and have a kitchen and concept year-round.

The 14 Mill Market is bringing hand selected drinks from local breweries across the Ozarks for a comfortable place people can come to relax and socialize. This will also be a new Ozarks entertainment destination that complements the downtown Nixa experience.

Construction is set to begin after the official groundbreaking ceremony with the hopes of opening by the Fall.
