Silver Dollar City will reopen today after a fire prior to opening on Thursday damaged several buildings forcing the park to close.
On a Facebook Video Thursday evening, Silver Dollar City's Vice President of Operations Jeff Ussery says the area where the fire took place will be fenced off as construction crews work in that area but activities at the rest of the park will go on as scheduled. The park is scheduled to open at 1:00 this afternoon.
In an earlier statement, park officials said that a fire started around 12:45 in the area between Heartland Home Furnishings and Flossie’s Fried Fancies. A later statement indicated that those areas as well as the Pork Rinds and Duplicating Lathe Area were also impacted. All of those areas will be closed until further notice.
Firefighters from the Southern Stone County Fire Protection District responded to the blaze with Mutual Aid assistance from Branson and Western Taney County Fire.
