The third federal holiday of the year is next week.
Following New Year’s Day and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, President’s Day takes place on Monday.
The holiday, which originally was specifically to celebrate the birthday of the nation’s first President George Washington, became President’s Day in the 1970s to recognize all presidents and is on the third Monday of February.
Federal Offices will be closed on Monday as will Financial Institutions. No regular mail delivery will happen on Monday. Also, most area county and state offices will be closed Monday to observe the holiday.
