A major bridge project is nearing completion in Taney County.
The new Highway 86 Bridge at Long Creek over Table Rock Lake was opened to traffic last week according to a release from the Missouri Department of Transportation. Construction on the bridge began in 2022 just south of the old Bridge which had been carrying traffic over the water since 1956. The truss system of the old bridge had shown signs of deterioration in recent years which had caused the bridge to close several times for repairs.
With the new bridge open, the final phase of the project will be the removal of the old bridge expected to be completed in 2025.
American Bridge Company of Pennsylvania is working on the project with a cost of around $66.5 million.
