A man from Mansfield is facing several charges after an incident involving a child being run over by a vehicle.
According to a post on the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, the incident occurred last week near Ava when officers discovered a child had been struck by a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Joseph Farris.
The child was taken to a local hospital for treatment of bruising and lacerations while Farris was given a field sobriety and breath test which indicated he had over the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
Farris is facing several charges including Abuse or Neglect of a Child and DWI. He is being held in the Douglas County Jail on $5000 Bond.
