An incident that began late Friday night in Harrison results in the death of a man by an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.
The statement from Harrison Police Chief Chris Graddy is below:
At 11:02 PM on 1/2/2026, several 911 hang-up calls were made to the Boone County Central Dispatch from the Holiday Inn Express. Patrol officers located the room where the calls were made and advised that the subject was barricaded in his room and was armed. The Harrison Police Department Special Operations team and Negotiator team were deployed. Negotiators attempted several times to reach the subject, but no contact was made. Negotiations continued until after 1 AM when a shot was heard in the room. There was no further contact with the subject. The SOT made entry and discovered a 49-year-old male deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The police department was assisted by the Harrison Fire Department, Boone County Sheriff’s Office, and the Arkansas State Police. The investigation is continuing.
