First Wave of Severe Storms Hit Lakes Region, More to Come on Friday

The first waves of Severe Storms for 2026 moved through the region also prompting the first Tornado Warning of the year. 

The National Weather Service in Little Rock briefly issued the warning for north central Boone County in areas between Omaha and Diamond City. Radar indicated rotation in the storm prompting the warning. No damage has been reported so far. 

Storms hit several areas yesterday as well as overnight with large hail reported to have fallen yesterday afternoon near Bull Shoals in Marion County. 

In Missouri, several Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued and some areas received hail and heavy rains led to some Flood Advisories. 

Another round of svere weather is expected in the region on Friday with a Marginal to Enhanced Risk of severe storms. According to NWS forecasters,  early indications suggest supercell thunderstorms in the afternoon into the evening, before merging into a squall line by Friday night. All hazards possible, including large hail, damaging wind gusts, and a few tornadoes.
