Zelma Solomon, 93 of Bates City, Missouri

Beloved mother and grandmother, Zelma Solomon, 93 of Bates City, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023 in Blue Springs, Missouri.

Zelma was born and raised in Hutchinson, Kansas.  She was born January 17, 1929, and was one of five children and the only daughter to Elmer & Georgia Marie (Griggs) Givens.  She met Harold Solomon while the two were working at Boeing in Wichita.  They were married on July 7, 1953 and moved to California for a time before moving back to Wichita and starting their family.  They had also lived in Blue Springs and then had an employment opportunity to manage a Branson motel and moved to Southwest Missouri.

Along with caring for her family, Zelma was a talented seamstress.  She was an avid crochetier.  She made treasured afghan blankets and pot holders for all of her family.  Zelma also loved to gamble and trips to the casinos were great fun for her. Her presence, love and care will be deeply missed.

Zelma leaves behind her children, Sheri Badder & husband Terry of Bates City, Mike Solomon of South Carolina, Daren Solomon & wife, Jill of Hollister; grandsons, Shad & wife Melissa, Shon & wife Casey; granddaughter, Tonja; seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold and her brothers, Eugene, Larry, Robert and Gary.

Services will be Saturday, January 14, 2023.  Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 3:00 p.m. in Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson.  Burial will be in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson.
