William Theodore “Billy” Thompson, Jr., age 89, of Monett, Missouri

            William Theodore “Billy” Thompson, Jr., age 89, of Monett, Missouri passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Lacoba Homes in Monett, Missouri.

            He was born December 10, 1933 in Glen Echo, Maryland the son of William Theodore Thompson, Sr. and Lillian Thompson, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were one son, John; one brother, Peewee and three sisters, Thelma, Francis and Betty.

            Surviving are three sons, Craig Thompson and his wife Francis of Bend, Oregon, Robert Thompson and his wife Dianna of Cassville, Missouri and Paul Thompson of San Diego, California; two daughters, Teresa Thompson of Phoenix, Arizona and Edith Thompson of Cassville, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

            Billy owned and operated Tommy Thompson Masonry while living in San Diego, California. He moved to this area in 1990 coming from San Diego. Billy was a minister at Mt. Olive Baptist Church and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and playing his steel guitar. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

            Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, September 18, 2023 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Brother Tony Ball will conduct the services.

            The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.

            Contributions may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church in memory of Billy.
