Whitney Alynn (Baker) Davis

Whitney Alynn (Baker) Davis, age 47, Branson, Missouri

Whitney Alynn (Baker) Davis (47) passed away unexpectedly on Thursday October 5th, 2023 in Branson MO. Born on May 31st 1976 to John (80) and Karen (Pennycuick) Baker (79), Whitney spent her early childhood in Colesburg Iowa before moving to Excelsior Springs MO. She graduated from Excelsior Springs High School, and two years later met Dan Davis, the love of her life.

Whitney and Dan, an unreplicable couple, were married for 25 years and shared three children, Jessica Davis, (24), Haley Davis (20), and Dylan Davis (17).

After their marriage in 1998 the couple started their lives together in Nevada, MO where Dan had been recently hired as the local Golf Professional. Whitney briefly worked at the local farm store there before taking a job with the City of Nevada as the receptionist at City Hall. It wasn’t long before her hard work and determination earned her a position as the HR Director for the City. She made numerous lifelong friendships and mentors that helped her grow professionally to a level unimaginable. She maintained her work ethic through the birth of three beautiful children in Nevada.

In 2006, Dan job took the family to the next chapter in their lives to Seneca KS, as Dan helped to open Spring Creek Golf Club. Whitney adored that town of 2000 and made more lifelong friends there. She worked at two different newspapers while raising three small children in this short period of time.

In (2008) Whitney and Dan moved to Branson MO, where they built a fierce community of friends and found family. Each Saturday, Whitney, alongside Dan and fellow regulars would grace the stage of Beverly’s Bar and Grill with renditions of Broken Wing and Dancing Queen.

Whitney loved to sing, whether at church, at karaoke, or around her mother’s piano during the holidays.

Whitney was preceded in death by her brother Matthew Joseph Baker. She is survived by her parents John and Karen Baker, two sisters, Brooke Matthys (50) Ashley Fizer (43), her husband, children, and countless family and friends who will miss her dearly.

In a world of monotonous hums, Whitney was the music.

Never afraid to be herself, anyone who encountered Whitney would find a positively audacious, and unapologetically fearless human who stood by her convictions. She stood up for those who couldn't stand up for themselves and approached even the most difficult situations with laughter and joy.

Above all, Whitney lived loud. She embraced life with childlike abandonment. Never taking herself too seriously, yet seriously loyal. Whitney’s source of pride were the lives lived by the people she loved. Whether it be her children, her nieces and nephews, or her friends. Whitney’s ever-growing circle of community had infinite corners. For once in her circle, she’d forever be in your corner.

For all who were blessed to know and love Whitney Davis, her celebration of life will be held on Wednesday Oct 11th, at Branson United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with the celebration of life service following at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson.
