Stanley A. Traeger Jr. 88, formerly of Forsyth, Mo, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022 in Minnesota. Services will be held at the Lady of the Ozarks Catholic Church Forsyth, Missouri on Friday, October 21, 2022. Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. with Father J. Friedel and Deacon Dan Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery 5201 S. Southwood Rd. Springfield, MO with full military honors.

Stanley was born to Stanley A. Traeger Sr. and Margaret Forbes Traeger on Christmas Day 1933. He was known to his parents as a happy baby. When he was born, his brother William ran to the Christmas tree to look for little Stan, but he was not found under the tree. As Stan grew up, he turned into a good baseball and basketball player. He was known to play without a baseball glove, but never missed a step. After graduating from Minneapolis Central High School, Stan attended the Minneapolis School of Business and received an accounting degree and worked as an accountant for most of his life. His next life changing endeavor was to serve his country and enlist in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Furstenfeldbruck, Germany. He achieved the rank of Senior Airman and left the Air Force after a 2-year tour of duty. After returning to the United States, Stan met and fell in love with Mary Elizabeth Shannon. They were married in Minneapolis on September 6, 1958.

Stan and Mary had 4 children, Timothy Stanley (Patricia, deceased), Robert Edward (Christine), Gregory William (Jodi) and Kathleen Mary Bauman (Greg). Stan also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Stan’s hobbies included yard work which he loved. He was often seen puttering around his yard raking, watering, planting, or mowing to achieve the greenest lawn in the neighborhood. Stan loved playing golf and was able to get his handicap down to a 7, he also was a very good and avid bowler.

In 1980 Stan moved his family to sunny southern California and they loved it there. About 15 years later, Stan and Mary moved to Forsyth, Missouri where they retired. Stan lost his beloved wife Mary on August 3, 2021. The loneliness and desire to be near family brought Stan back to Minnesota to live with his eldest son, Tim. Unfortunately, that portion of his life was short-lived as he passed away 2 ½ months after moving there.

Stan will be greatly missed and be remembered as a role model to his children and an honest and loving person to all who meet him.

Services are under the direction of the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, Forsyth, MO.
