Rosalie Mead went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at the age of 91.  She passed at her home in Purdy, Missouri surrounded by family.

She was born on October 18, 1930 to Gladys Leon and Marjorie (Catron) Pennel in their home on Flat Creek, she was an only child.

Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Loy Byrd, Bill Goutney and Oliver Mead; two daughters and two granddaughters.

Vernon, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Misty Lane and her husband Sam of Monett, Missouri, Shauna Jones and her husband Tommy of Republic, Missouri, Jessica Owen and her husband Jessie of Pierce City, Missouri, Aubrey Boyakin and his wife Audrey of Palmetto, Georgia, Shane Horner and his wife Toni of Miami, Oklahoma, Yancy Pierce of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Monica Cox and her husband Donnie of Suffolk, Virginia and Patty Madison of Rogers, Arkansas; twenty-two great grandchildren and forty great great grandchildren.

Rosalie attended school at Sparks in Purdy, Missouri, Clark in Wheaton, Missouri and finished her education at Wheaton High School.  She was employed by Jumping Jack shoe factory for seventeen and a half years and Justin Boot for six and a half years as a seamstress before retiring.  She was involved in 4H for many years as a leader, teaching all aspects of life to children.  After Oliver and Rosalie were married they were able to enjoy traveling, to which she has many great memories.  They were members of the VFW and volunteered at the Salvation Army Camp one summer teaching children to fish.  Giving back when she could was very important to her.  Rosalie lived most of her life in Barry County Missouri.  She has always been involved in Church.  She and Oliver attended and were members of Freewill Baptist Church in Purdy for almost fifteen years and at the time of passing she was a member of Gunter Methodist Church.  Gunter always held a special place and memories as this was where she went as a child with her grandparents, who lived not far from the school building where services were held.  She was proud to say that reading the bible daily is the best thing anyone can do.  Rosalie loved to tell stories of the changes in our world and experiences she had in her 91 years.  She also enjoyed cheering grandkids and church kids on at ball games.  Everyone knew when she didn’t agree with a call that had been made.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M.  Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.  Pastor Mike Tharp, Pastor Jerry Nickle and Pastor Russ Neill will conduct the services. Burial will be at Sparks Cemetery Butterfield.
