Ronald “Ron” Duncan, known to many as Ron, passed away on April 15, 2026, in Forsyth, Missouri, at the age of 69.
Ron was born on July 12, 1956, in El Monte, California. He was lovingly raised by parents, Tom and Betty (Downey) Duncan, both of whom preceded him in death. He spent his early years in California and completed his education there. Those who knew Ron will remember him as an adventurous man whose life was marked by movement, service, and a genuine appreciation for nature around him.
Ron later made southwest Missouri his home for more than twenty years after coming from California with his family. He became deeply rooted in the community and was known for the many ways he quietly stepped forward to help wherever there was a need. Whether he was working with children in the Extended Learning Program around Nixa, helping those experiencing homelessness in Springfield through the Gathering Tree project, or contributing his abilities at Eden Village, Ron gave of himself in practical and meaningful ways
Ron was also a man of faith. He was active in his christian walk and attended Calvary Chapel in Springfield, where he found fellowship and encouragement among fellow believers. His faith was an important part of his life and was reflected in the way he treated others, with kindness, humility, and a sincere desire to help.
He found joy in the outdoors and was very involved with his garden and taking care of his plants. Ron always valued staying active throughout his life and running was one way he stayed fit, but it was also something he enjoyed for the freedom and energy it gave him. He also loved fishing and any opportunity to spend time in nature. Being outdoors brought him peace.
Ron is survived by his son, Andrew Duncan, and Andrew’s wife, Cristy Duncan, of Rockaway Beach. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Braeden, Caitlynn, and Masen, who brought great joy to his life and a community of neighbors and friends who he had a lasting impact upon their lives.
His family was a source of pride and love, and he treasured the time he spent with them and they will remember Ron through a private family and friends gathering at a later date. Care is under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson.
