Michael Robert Sorensen, age 75, Branson, Missouri

Michael Robert Sorensen, age 75, of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, passed away suddenly on May 24, 2023, in Branson, Missouri. He entered this life May 13, 1948, the son of John and Rosalie (Robbins) Sorensen in Chicago, Illinois. Mike was joined in marriage on May 22, 1989, to Judith Ann Zriny.

Possessing a gregarious soul, Mike loved to talk to people, be goofy, express sarcasm, and showcase a weirdly unique sense of humor. These personality quirks made him many dear friends as he and Judy traveled throughout the United States. Mike enjoyed playing cards, horseracing, Chicago sports teams (especially the Cubs), driving Judy to and from work, arranging get-togethers with family and friends, and being an avid bike rider. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. The memories created over the years with Mike will be treasured forever.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Mike is survived by his wife of thirty-four years, Judy Sorensen of Elk Grove Village, Illinois; daughter, Kristin Sorensen of Raleigh, North Carolina; son, Keith (Jen) Sorensen of Hoffman Estates, Illinois; grandchildren: Kaarina Sorensen-Jarrett and Tommy Sorensen; brother, Jim (Mindy) Sorensen of Des Plaines, Illinois; sister, Robin (Jim) Hargesheimer of Des Plaines, Illinois; cousins: Bob Benning, Bill Cook, Cathy Cook, Kerry Robbins, Mark House, Reggie House, and David Stapp. Mike also was the fun uncle to Callie, Ryan, Brett, Dane, and Kelsey.

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Mike’s name to the Howards Ridge Cemetery in Howards Ridge, Missouri in care of: TJ Lewis 1283 SSR-J Gainesville, Missouri 65655. The family would also be appreciative of donations to any cause near and dear to your heart. Mike and his family spent August of every year of his childhood visiting Grandpa TJ Robbins on his farm along with other relatives. Mike was the one who often stayed in air-conditioned comfort with his Aunt Nova while the rest of the family was tent camping down by the river.   : )
