Margaret Joyce (Goodwin) Beeson

Margaret Joyce (Goodwin) Beeson, age 94, Cassville, Missouri

Margaret Joyce (Goodwin) Beeson of Cassville, Missouri was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on November 1, 1929 the daughter of Fred E. and Evah I. (Bowman) Goodwin. She passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Arkansas. On March 18, 1950 in Tulsa, Oklahoma she was united in marriage to Don Beeson, who survives. They became parents of four children, Carolyn Beeson of West Monroe, Louisiana, Marolyn Wood of Cassville, Missouri, Donna Tapscott (Kent) of Hurst, Texas and Joel Beeson (Angie) of Haltom City, Texas. There are nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Brooke, Linday, Kyle, Bryan, Kristin, Lance, Erin and Bryce; 12 great grandchildren, more than 40 nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. We all mourn her absence and rejoice with her in her Heavenly Home!

Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Robert Goodwin and one son-in-law, Mike Wood.

Margaret graduated from Central High School in Tulsa and attended Oklahoma State University, taking some classes. She was never aware of the positive influence her quiet manner made, it was enough for her to do her work and let that be her statement. She was an excellent seamstress, an active participant in many crafts, an ardent jigsaw puzzle worker and a lover of antiquing. Antique stores across the country welcomed her as she shopped mostly for glassware. It was her joy to make dresses for her daughters and granddaughters and Christmas stockings for family members. Family came first in her vocabulary.

She enjoyed membership in Cassville United Methodist Church since Easter Sunday 1985. Margaret honored that membership by regular attendance and various support methods. Her craft skills were demonstrated over a period of many years with other ladies who met regularly in the church basement creating various crafts. For 30 years she volunteered at the Cassville Senior Center delivering meals.

Margaret spent twenty years accompanying her Army Chaplain husband throughout the country and parts of the world. Her favorite was Germany with her family. Margaret’s very favorite places in the world were Berchtesgaden, Germany, Pagosa Springs, Colorado and Cassville, Missouri. In her last 41 years she enjoyed the open quietness and the appearance of baby calves.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday January 8, 2024 at Cassville United Methodist Church in Cassville. Pastor Jeff Fugitt will conduct the services. Burial will be at Mineral Springs Cemetery in Cassville, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.

Contributions may be made to Cassville United Methodist Church in memory of Margaret.
