Laveta Beatrice Dabbs McCloud, age 88, of Rocky Comfort, Missouri

Laveta Beatrice Dabbs McCloud, age 88, of Rocky Comfort, Missouri, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 29, 2023, in Monett, Missouri.

She was born May 28, 1935, in Seneca, Missouri to Lawrence and Stella (Barker) Arehart.  Laveta married Paul Dabbs January 1, 1953, in Madison County, Arkansas.  They raised two daughters and were happily married until Paul’s death on May 15, 1972.  Laveta was later married to Mike McCloud on June 29, 1979, in Miami, Oklahoma, he preceded her in death on October 20, 2005.  Also preceding her in death were her parents; one brother Gary Wayne Arehart; two sisters, Joann Carpenter and Merna Pickett.

Laveta went on to lead an active life enjoying outings with her friends and daughters, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Evans of Springfield, Missouri and Paula McCullah of Wheaton, Missouri; one brother, Leonard Arehart; two sisters, Delores Handley and Norma Wolfe; seven grandchildren, Nick Peck, Kindra (Peck) Harvey and her husband Charlie, Cyle Meade, Heather (McCullah) Hobbs and her husband Travis, Shane McCullah, Shawn McCullah, Joseph McCullah and his wife Meagan; a close friend, Jean Tichenor.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 7, 2023, at Wheaton Southern Baptist Church in Wheaton, Missouri, under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Pastor Paul Wahlert will conduct the services. Burial will be at Rocky Comfort Cemetery in Rocky Comfort, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Friday at Wheaton Southern Baptist Church.
