Lavern “Hank” Herman Langer

Lavern “Hank” Herman Langer, 83, Branson, Missouri

Lavern “Hank” Herman Langer, 83, went peacefully to meet Jesus in the early hours of Monday, April 24th.

Hank was born in Verona, MO to Herman and Minda Langer.  He attended and graduated from Verona High School.  Following graduation, Hank served in the Army Reserves for six and a half years.  He went into business with his brother-in-law, Orville Meyer, and ran L & M Tire for many years in the Mt. Vernon community.

In 1978, he married his wife of 45 years, Bobbie Langer.  They first lived on a farm in Mt. Vernon.  On weekends and in free time, the family formed the southern gospel singing group “Free Water.”  The group traveled, sang in area churches, and made their first mission trip as a family in 1987.  (Hank and Bobbie went for the first time in 1980.)  Upon retirement, Hank and Bobbie sold their business and farm and moved full time to the mission field of Jamaica.  They faithfully served there for the next 8 years.

Since returning, the couple continues to support the missionary effort there and in Alaska (where their youngest son’s family serves).  Hank and Bobbie are members of Grace Family Church in Branson.

Hank will be especially remembered for his generous lifestyle and for being an amazing father, grandfather, husband, fisherman, and minister of God’s word.  While in the mission field, Hank built furniture and toys for 27 basic schools in Jamaica.

Survivors include:  wife, Bobbie Langer of Powersite; Bert and Becky Otto of Big Spring, TX and grandchildren Nolan and Lora; Wade and Lynette Langer of Powersite and grandchildren Raelynn, Sydney, Annalise, and Serenity, and great-granddaughter Cloey; Carroll (Bub) and Priscilla Craig of Cassville with grandchildren Tori, Dennis, DJ and Michaela Craig (with a great-grandbaby on the way), Colton and Micah Carter and great-grandchildren Brielle, Blakeleigh, and Paisley; and Stewart and Stacey Langer of North Pole, AK with grandchildren Simeon, Stephen, and Seth.

The Celebration of Life ceremony will take place at 2:30 pm. on Friday, the 28th of April at Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home in Branson, MO.  (1638 Rt. 76). Internment will occur at a later date.  Relatives and friends are welcome following the ceremony at Grace Family Church in Branson.
