Katherine “Kathy” Penrod, age 70, Branson, Missouri

Katherine “Kathy” Penrod, age 70, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away April 23, 2023. She entered this life on March 23, 1953, the daughter of Raymond and Mabel (Boggs) Johnson in Wise County, Virginia.

With an adventurous soul, Kathy loved traveling and visiting with friends and family. She enjoyed fishing and camping. Kathy was a generous woman who spent many years helping and caring for others. She was a wonderful, silly, and lovingly enthusiastic mom and grandmother who loved her family greatly. The memories and moments created throughout her life will be cherished by all who knew her.

Kathy is survived by her daughter, Melinda Duncan and husband, John of Henderson, Kentucky; grandson, Justin Duncan and wife, Jessica of Sturgis, Kentucky; great-grandchildren: Kinsley, Oaklynn, and Wrenlee. She is also survived by two brothers: Lon Johnson and wife, Linda and Mike Johnson and wife, Janet; two sisters: Helen Pinkston and husband, Alan and Ruby Abel and husband, Bryan; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; significant other, Missy Adams; brother, Bruce Johnson; sisters: Loretta (Johnson-Day) Sturgill and Mary Anil Trent; and brother-in-law, Vernon Trent.

There will be a celebration of life held at a later date in Henderson, Kentucky. In memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen foundation for breast cancer, www.komen.org/.
