Judith Ann Gass Lane...
Judith Ann Gass Lane passed peacefully, early March 1st, 2025, in her beloved home surrounded by family in Omaha, Arkansas. She was born on October 22, 1939, in Bellville, Illinois to Alfred and Emma Gass, the third daughter in a family of six children.
She grew up on a farm enjoying as much time with the animals as she could. She loved to ride horses and was even known to ride a pig. She eventually went on to marry Elmer ”Sonny” Lane and raise three girls and a boy of her own.
Her passion, while she was still of working age, was medical and surgical sciences. It was her desire to help the new doctors and surgeons learn more through her anatomical donation.
Judy always had an artistic side. Whether it was sketching, wood carving, landscaping, or sewing, if she wanted something, chances are she could make it herself. She later moved in with her mother and brother in Omaha AR, where she spent most of her time building, planting and maintaining multiple gardens around her mother’s property. Her gardens were some of her proudest accomplishments aside from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Famous in the family for her Mac & Cheese, she tried to teach us how to make meals that were both delicious and nutritious, but of course also knew a good chocolate cake recipe or two. I don’t know if she ever went a day of her life without a pot of coffee. She spent much of her later life drinking coffee and watching the birds and chipmunks play outside her window or spending long nights playing mahjong on her computer. Known affectionately to her grandchildren as Juju, she loved spending time with her grand and great-grandkids and was always so proud of everything they achieved no matter how small.
Juju was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Colleen Boul and Mary-Gail Miotke, her brother, Thomas Gass, and her granddaughter, Tomika Lane.
She is survived by her brothers, Joe Gass and Dave Gass, her children, Theresa Lane, Sandra Campbell, Gwendolyn Conger, and Charles Lane, 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews and extended family.
A celebration of life will be scheduled later. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Judy or to honor her you can simply drink a cup of coffee while listening to the birds sing.. work in a garden.. ride a horse… believe in a kid… make something beautiful...She would be grateful for them all.
