John Ross Carnahan, age 74, of Ozark, Missouri

John Ross Carnahan, age 74, of Ozark, Missouri, formerly of Forsyth, passed away on April 15, 2026. John was born on February 23, 1952, in Pana, Illinois.

John grew up in Illinois, where he learned the values of hard work, loyalty, and community. Those qualities remained with him throughout his life and were reflected in the way he treated others. He had a genuine way of making people feel welcome, and his presence was appreciated by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A devoted Christian, John found strength and fellowship in his faith. Later in life, he became a member of Riverview Bible Baptist, where he was able to grow in his faith and develop relationships with caring people. His church family held a special place in his heart, and he valued the encouragement, friendship, and spiritual support he found there.

John spent much of his working life in food service, where he served as a manager for a Pizza Hut restaurant in Illinois. He approached his work with responsibility and dedication, and he was respected for the way he handled his duties. He also gave back to his community by volunteering with the local fire department, demonstrating his willingness to help others and serve where needed. In another chapter of his life, he worked in a tavern that hosted the Oak Ridge Boys, and he later had the memorable opportunity to meet them. These experiences became part of the many stories and memories that enriched his life.

Outside of work, John enjoyed collecting baseball cards, a hobby that began in childhood and continued through his later years. He appreciated the history, memories, and excitement that came with each card, and the collection remained a treasured part of his life. He was also a collector of unique and sentimental guns, items that reflected his interest in meaningful keepsakes and pieces with a story behind them. His interests brought him joy and gave him opportunities to connect with others who shared similar passions.

John is survived by his wife, Cindy, and a host of extended friends and church family who will remember him with love and gratitude. His life touched many people, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Services for John will take place at Riverview Bible Baptist Church on April 20, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow in the Snapp Cemetery in Forsyth. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are encouraged to support the Riverview

Bible Baptist School in Forsyth in John’s memory. Service arrangements are under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel.
