Joe Robert Cantrell, age 84, of Springfield, Missouri.

Joe Robert Cantrell, age 84, of Springfield, Missouri passed away Monday, December 27, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

He was born on September 5, 1937 in Exeter, Missouri the son of Delmar “Doc” and Verna (Jones) Cantrell.  On May 16, 1969 in Cassville, Missouri he was united in marriage to Judy Bullard, who survives.  Also surviving are one son, Chad Cantrell and his wife Jennifer of Denmark; one daughter, Linda Daugherty and her husband Jeff of Nixa, Missouri; one sister, Marlee Callaway of Exeter, Missouri: five grandchildren, Samuel Cantrell, Sarah Cantrell, Jessica Sterling and her husband Jason, Kayla Daugherty, and Luke Daugherty and four great grandchildren:  Garrett Sterling, Colton Sterling, Ryder Sterling and River Leigh Honeycutt.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Jeff Cantrell and one sister, Mary Catherine Thomas.

Joe grew up and received his education in Exeter graduating from Exeter High School.  He was employed by Zenith Electronics Corporation in Springfield and later at Missouri State University as a vending machine mechanic from where he retired in 1997.  He was a great neighbor who never knew a stranger.  He enjoyed helping people and could repair any kind of machine that required an expert mechanic.  He loved southwest Missouri, but most of all he loved his family and extended family. He was a beloved son, husband, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose presence will be missed greatly.  He was a member of Dayspring Church in Springfield.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.  Pastor Steve Wilson will conduct the services.  The burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter.
