Jeremiah Thompson

Jeremiah Thompson...

Cherished husband, father, Saba, brother and friend, Jeremiah Thompson entered into rest on Friday, May 3, 2024 surrounded by loved ones at his home in Kirbyville, MO after a courageous battle with cancer. Jeremiah was born on June 26, 1946 in Portland, Oregon but grew up on a tiny island of about 80 people off the coast in Alaska. At the age of 14, he moved back to Oregon where he attended and later graduated from Seaside High School in 1964. At the age of 18, like many others, he was drafted to serve in the United States Army and bravely served in six Vietnam Tours as an Intelligence Analyst where he would ultimately ascend to the rank of Captain. Upon honorable discharge, Jeremiah married Ming Hsueh in Taiwan and returned to California to start a family and attend college at UC Santa Barbara.  Jeremiah was blessed to have two children, a daughter Summer and a son Jonathon with whom he shared his life adventures. He graduated from UCSB with a BA in Political Science in 1976.

Everyone who knows Jeremiah, loved that he marched to the beat of his own drum. He had a very unconventional, non-conformist view of life and the world. So rather than pursuing his military career, he opted to change direction and follow his entrepreneurial spirit which manifested in a variety of business ventures throughout his life including a fast film development service in Daytona Beach Florida, teenage nightclubs in Sacramento, California, and a Staffing agency in Colorado.

In the summer of 1988, Jeremiah was born again, baptized, and became a dedicated lifelong follower and disciple of our Creator and Savior. Jeremiah spent the next 30 years studying and teaching the Bible, witnessing to others of Yahweh’s love and giving his life to his divine purpose.  He found that his passion for helping people spiritually was so intertwined with helping people physically that he pursued his final calling in Natural medicine. So at the age of 50 he earned a doctorate in Naturopathic medicine and opened a clinic in Santa Barbara California, making an indelible impact on the lives and health of people around the world.

Jeremiah met his loving wife Kendra in 2017. In his own words “it was love at first sight” hearing the Holy Spirit say “she's the one.” Jeremiah and Kendra were married in 2021 in Costa Rica and Kendra has been by his side ever since.

The essence of Jeremiah, his passion for life and selfless care for others will be greatly missed. He had a kind and caring nature that made people want to be around him. He loved to laugh and had a very witty sense of humor. He was highly intellectual and wise and incredibly strong but also very gentle.  He had an affinity for nature and all of God’s animal kingdom. He loved traveling and meeting new people from all walks of life, but mostly he loved to teach people about the word of Yahweh.  His life has been a testimony to his dedication to his love for our Heavenly Father.

He is survived by his wife, Kendra Thompson; his daughter Summer Thompson-Verrett, husband Yisrael, and grandchildren Jakob and Hadassah of Denver, CO; his son Jonathon Thompson, wife Holly, and grandchildren, Chase, Noah, Zac, and Quinn, of Santa Barbara, CA;  his brother, Jay Thompson and wife Diane of Grants Pass, OR.

Jeremiah was preceded in death by his father, John Thompson; his mother, Mary Knight; and his brother, Jeffrey Thompson.

His life will be celebrated on Friday, May 10, 2024.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson and funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Graveside services with full military honors will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. All are welcome to say goodbye.
