James Magnuson

James Leroy Magnuson, age 70, of Rockaway Beach, Missouri

James Leroy Magnuson, age 70, of Rockaway Beach, Missouri, passed away February 24, 2022, at home with family nearby. He entered this life July 2, 1951, in Peoria, Illinois, the son of James and Pearl (Teacher) Magnuson. Preceding him in death are his parents, one sister, and six brothers.

One of twelve children, James learned at an early age how to share and care for others. He had a golden heart, which was displayed when he shared all he had with family, friends, acquaintances, and strangers. James labored as a roofer for more than forty years, handing down the craft to family. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and being in the great outdoors. A devoted father and grandfather, James led in love paired with compassion. His life was and will continue to be an example to follow for all who loved him.

James is survived by three daughters: Jamie (David Kerley) Magnuson of Rockaway Beach, Missouri, Alexis Magnuson of West Plains, Missouri, and Destiny Magnuson of West Plains, Missouri; three sons: Jimmy (Diedra Brixey) Magnuson of West Plains, Missouri, Jeremy (Valarie) Magnuson of Thayer, Missouri, and Davian Magnuson of West Plains, Missouri; stepdaughter, Amanda and stepsons, Nathan and Clayton; seven grandsons; one granddaughter; and one great-grandchild on the way; and five surviving siblings: Louise, Sharon, Chester, Lester, and Grant.
