Harold D. Thornton, age 86, Branson, Missouri

Funeral service for Harold D. Thornton, 86, Branson will be held January 13, at 3 P.M. in the Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson.  Pastor Bobby Fausett will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson. He will be honored with full military rites by the United States Navy and Branson Veterans of America Chapter 913. Harold entered into rest on January 9, 2023 in Hollister, MO.

Harold Dean Thornton was born February 2, 1936 in Protem, MO.  He was one of two sons born to Rex and Glessie (Brown) Thornton. Harold graduated from Branson High School. He joined the United States Navy and served one tour of duty.  He was very proud of his service.  Harold married Rose Ash on September 18, 1971 in Baldwin, KS.  They had celebrated fifty-one years together this past fall.

Harold had worked for various restaurants in the area helping in the kitchen.  He also worked making and selling cement novelty ware.

Harold’s interests were listening to the scanner to know what was going on in the county; listening to Blue Grass Christian music; watching old westerns; looking at family pictures and telling the family about who was who; and collecting and figuring out gadgets.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Harold is survived by his loving wife Rose of Branson, two sons Kenny Thornton (Lindsey) of Powersite, MO; Brian Thornton (Hope) of San Diego, CA; one daughter Michelle Doyle (Richard) of Branson; one brother Bill Thornton (Gail) of Ellijay, GA and seven grandchildren. 

Visitation will be Thursday January 12, 6-7 P.M. at Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson, Mo.
