Freda Louise Richardson

Freda Louise Richardson, age 95, Branson, Missouri

Freda Louise Richardson passed away on August 21, 2023, at Forsyth Nursing and Rehab, at the age of 95. Born on September 30, 1927, in Dearing, Kansas, she lived a long and joyful life characterized by faith, generosity, and adventure.

Freda was the daughter of Walter and Eda Shockey. She was raised in Coffeyville, Kansas where she graduated from Coffeyville High School and met the love of her life, Duane Richardson, at her father’s filling station. The couple were married on June 14, 1947, in Coffeyville.

As a faithful wife and mother, she navigated the frequent relocations necessitated by work, always creating a warm and loving home. The couple's professional journey eventually led them to New Jersey, where Freda worked for Southwestern Bell and later AT&T for two decades. In 1988, Freda and Duane decided to retire and move to Branson. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Hollister and later Ozark Mountain Community Church in Blue Eye.

Freda's heart was big, and her spirit was adventurous. She was a faithful supporter of missionaries and gave generously to mission work. This wasn't merely a sense of responsibility for Freda, but a source of true joy. She loved exploring new places and leading an active life. As a self-motivated problem solver, Freda often found unique solutions to challenges. Her kindness, strength and determination were admired by those who knew her.

Freda is survived by her daughter Janet Saxon and son-in-law Lanis, and her grandchildren, Adam Saxon and Caryn Saxon. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren: Asher, Ethan, Addison, Carter, and Olivia.

Freda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Duane Richardson; son, Cortland Richardson; her brothers Harold and Laurel Shockey and her sister Hazel Burris.

We remember the joy Freda derived from giving, her adventurous spirit, determination and strong will.  We will also remember the fun and love she shared with those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. She will be greatly missed.

Services for Freda will be Friday, August 25, 2023 in Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. with funeral services following at 2:00 P.M. and burial in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson.
