Edna Mae (Pressley) Johnson, age 95 of Bradleyville, Missouri

Edna Mae (Pressley) Johnson age 95 of Bradleyville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Aug. 27, 2023, at Forsyth Nursing and Rehab.  Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 30 at the Bray Cemetery, Bradleyville at 10 AM under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel, Forsyth. Rev. Jack Essary and Rev. David Easley will officiate.

Edna was born February 16, 1928, near Fryatt, Ark. She was the oldest daughter of Elmer Serenus Pressley and Mary Ethel (Broce) Pressley.  The family moved to the Dogwood, Missouri area in 1934, then to the Pembonny area in Christian County in 1936, before buying a farm south of Bradleyville in 1937.

Edna attended grade school at Union Flat, then went to Bradleyville High School where she graduated in 1945.  She married the love of her life, Alva Johnson on January 16, 1947, near Hercules, Missouri. They had enjoyed over 68 years of marriage at the time of his death.

 Edna was a homemaker and enjoyed being outdoors, playing the guitar, singing, and yodeling.  She also wrote several songs. Edna loved the Lord and her family. She was a member of the New Mansion (Union Flat) Church. She attended church at Hercules and Caney as long as her health would permit.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Alva, daughter-in-law Patsy and sister Emogene.

Edna is survived by her son Delbert Johnson (Lorri); daughter Kathleen Chaney (Roger) all of Bradleyville; one sister Elsie Combs of Bradleyville; six grandchildren; Stephonie (John) Spray, Mandy (Duane) Rogers, Dustin (Chi-Anna) Johnson, Brad (Carrie) Chaney, Jeremy (Kendra) Chaney and Justin (Amanda) Chaney, along with seventeen great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Bray Cemetery %Margaret Dalton, 236 Skyline Dr., Bradleyville, Mo. 65614.
