Dennis Lee Howard, age 87, of Shell Knob, Missouri

Dennis Lee Howard, age 87, of Shell Knob, Missouri passed away Friday, July 28, 2023, at Mercy Hospital Cassville in Cassville, Missouri.

            He was born in Stigler, Oklahoma on March 16, 1936, the son of Harold and Nellie (Stout) Howard. On November 23, 1960, in Wichita, Kansas he was united in marriage to Betty L. Carroll, who preceded him in death on April 1, 2020. Also preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Keith and Dwayne; one stepbrother, Wally; two sisters, Connye and Juanita and two stepsisters, Jean and Vonetta.

            Surviving are two daughters, Vinell Howard of Shell Knob, Missouri and Regina Dodd and her husband Michael of Shell Knob, Missouri; one stepsister, Sophina Dunn and her husband Dean of Forsythe, Missouri; one grandson, Shayne Howard and his wife Amanda of Wichita, Kansas and eight great-grandchildren.

            Dennis grew up and attended school in Stigler, Oklahoma graduating from Stigler High School. He served in the United States Army. After returning home he was employed by Graves/ANR Trucking in Wichita, Kansas as a truck driver for 34 years from where he retired in 1995. He and Betty moved to Shell Knob, Missouri in 2007. Dennis enjoyed being on the lake whether it was boating, skiing or riding his Sea Doo. Some favorite pastimes were playing his guitar, singing and spending time in his woodworking shop making God boxes for people. His family was very important to him.

            Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at First Christian Church in Shell Knob, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Mitch Sayler and Pastor L. B. Howard will conduct the services. Burial will be at Lake Park Memorial Gardens in Shell Knob, Missouri.

            The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time at First Christian Church in Shell Knob.

            Contributions may be made to First Christian Church in memory of Dennis.
