Christopher Steven “Chris” Barto, age 76, of Shell Knob
Christopher Steven “Chris” Barto, age 76, of Shell Knob, Missouri passed away Tuesday,
May 5, 2026 at Mercy Hospital Springfield in Springfield, Missouri.
He was born January 21, 1950 in Wood, Pennsylvania the son of Roy W. and Emma
Mary (Shultz) Barto. On August 3, 2009 he was united in marriage to Kristine Krentz in State
College, Pennsylvania, who survives. Also surviving is one brother, Richard Barto and his wife
Letty of West Grove, Pennsylvania, and two sisters, Judy Kutz and her husband Ronald of
Carlisle, Pennsylvania and Della Robinson of Chesapeake Bay, Virginia.
Preceding him in death were his parents and 13 siblings.
After high school, Chris continued his education at Shippensburg University where he
received a bachelor’s degree. During his career he managed a grocery store in Mifflintown,
Pennsylvania for 14 years. He enjoyed watching the news, movies, playing pool, and reading.
Chris was a member of United Methodist Church in Shell Knob.
Private services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under direction
of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
