Billy Ray Vaughn, 76, of Galena, Missouri, entered into rest peacefully at his beloved home on August 21, 2026.
Bill was born on March 12, 1950. He proudly served his country in the United States military and went on to build a life defined by hard work, dedication, and love for his family. Bill and his wife, Renee, raised their family in Ballwin, Missouri, where they built a lifetime of memories together before eventually retiring to Galena.
For Bill, Galena was more than where he lived. It was home. He took great pride in the home he had worked his entire life for and loved it dearly. He was happiest enjoying the simple things: fishing, spending time at the lake, sitting on his back patio watching the wildlife, and having his family nearby.
Bill was a man of few words, but he never needed many to let his family know how much they meant to him. His love was often shown quietly, through his presence, the life he provided, and the time he spent with the people he cared about. Beneath his quiet nature was a man who loved his family deeply.
Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, Renee Vaughn, and his son, Joshua Vaughn.
He was the beloved father of Teresa (Randy) Oehm and loving grandfather of Amber Scholz; Megan (Alex) Seese; Jacob Gale; and Brody, Elizabeth, and Briley Vaughn. He was the proud great-grandfather of Addyson and Alyvia Wilson, Zoey and Harlow Seese, and Breezy Vaughn.
His family will miss the comfort of simply knowing he was there. They will miss his quiet presence, the time spent together, the stories and memories,
and knowing exactly where they could find him: at the home he loved, often sitting on his back patio taking in the view.
There is something especially meaningful in knowing that Bill's final moments were spent peacefully in that home. The place he had worked so hard for, where he found peace and happiness, was also the place where his journey came to an end.
While his absence leaves an incredible void, his family finds comfort in imagining him reunited with Renee and Joshua, two people he loved and undoubtedly missed deeply. Bill leaves behind more than a home or a lifetime of memories. He leaves behind a family that carries pieces of him forward through his daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was deeply loved, he will be greatly missed, and he will always be remembered in the quiet moments: a peaceful evening on the patio, wildlife passing through the yard, a day spent fishing, or the stillness of the lake he loved so much.
