Tournament Recap: Branson Plays for Forsyth Title, Other Results

High School Basketball Tournament action includes a return to the championship game in Forsyth for Branson as well as a champion crowned in Blue Eye.

Forsyth Boys
In the semifinals of the tournament Friday night, the second seeded Pirates used a 14-0 surge in the second half then held off a late Lebanon run, to down the third seeded Yellowjackets 51-45.

Branson, who has won 14 of the 63 Forsyth Tournaments played, will go for title 15 this evening at 7:00 against Gainesville, the fifth seed who's surprising run through the tournament continued with a 66-59 win over top seeded Carl Junction in Friday's other semifinal.    

Today's schedule will include the fifth place game at 4:00 between Forsyth and Reeds Spring that can be heard on Perry Phillips Sports Dot Com with Carl Junction playing Lebanon for third at 5:30. Branson will play Gainesville at 7:00 in the championship game that can be heard on MOARK Sports Dot Com. 

Blue Eye Girls
Glendale takes the tournament title with a 53-31 win over Berryville. Among the other results in the tournament included Forsyth taking fifth place with a 58-37 win over Spokane,

Branson Battle at the Boarder Girls
The Lady Pirates fall to Olathe South 47-36 in the second round of pool play. The other scores of the second day had Lake Hamilton hold off Olathe North 63-55 and Waynesville taking a 58-53 win over MICDS.

Olathe South joins Lake Hamilton as the only two undefeated teams in the field, and they will play each other in the opening game of the final day this afternoon at 12:00. The other games will have Waynesville taking on Olathe North a 1:30 with Branson playing MICDS at 3:00. The Lady Pirates game can be heard on MOARK Sports Dot Com. 

Willard Boys/Girls
The Harrison teams both drop games in the second round of competition. The Goblins, after their opening round win over Glendale Thursday, fall to Nixa 80-65 in Friday's semi-final while the Lady Goblins lost their second straight, falling to Strafford in a consolation game 58-46. Both teams will take on host Willard in the final games, the Lady Goblins this morning at 9:00, and the Goblins this afternoon at 4:30.
