Missouri State Law, MSHSAA Guidelines Address NIL

The Missouri State Legislature and Missouri State High School Activities Association addresses Name, Image, and Likeness Agreements in the state.

The agreements, known and N.I.L., have been allowed in the NCAA since 2021 and many states have addressed this as well.

In Missouri, a law passed allows High School Athletes who have signed a National Letter of Intent or similar document to attend a post-secondary college or university in Missouri to take part in a N.I.L. agreement.

MSHSAA revised their by-laws by a vote of member schools in the spring, which includes N.I.L. agreements in certain situations though any use of items associated with a school including name, logos, and uniforms must be approved by the school. Any agreement though must conform to the recently passed state laws.
