H.S. Postseason: Branson Tennis to Final Four, Forsyth Baseball Wins District

Tuesday's Highlights include an area program heading to a State Semi-final and anther winning a District Championship.

The Branson Tennis Pirates shutout Sedalia Smith-Cotton 5-0 in the Class 2 State Tennis Sectional in Springfield Tuesday Morning. The Pirates, who edged out Willard last week to win the program's second ever District Title, will now roll in to the State Semifinals on May 28 taking on Thomas Jefferson out of Joplin. The matches will also be played at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield. 

Meanwhile in Baseball, the Forsyth Panthers win the Class 3 District Championship with a 1-0 eight inning win over Hartville. The top seeded Panthers, who went extra innings to beat Mansfield in Monday's semi-finals, survive a pitching dual and scratch across a run in the bottom of the eighth to secure the win. The Panthers will play in the Class 3 Sectional next week against a yet to be determined opponent. The Baseball District win, coupled with the Softball District Title won earlier this month, makes it only the second time in school history both programs have won District Titles in the same year. 

In other action, Hollister wins their Class 4 District semi-final at Aurora 10-0 over Monett. The Tigers advance to Thursday's Final against the host Houn Dawgs, who knocked off Reeds Spring 9-2 in the other semi-final after the Wolves had won the completion of Monday's suspended game over Cassville 7-1. 

Branson had their Baseball season ended in Springfield Tuesday as they lost to Glendale 10-0 in the first round of the Class 5 District Tournament while elsewhere in Springfield, the Branson Lady Pirates Soccer team lost in the Class 3 Districts to host Catholic 5-1.
