C of O Cross Country Competes at Missouri Southern

The College of the Ozarks Cross Country teams made the trek up Interstate 44 for the very competitive Missouri Southern Stampede, and came home with momentum to build on for the season.

The women’s 5k started the day and the Lady Cats posted a time of 1:39:45 to finish in third place overall. The Lady Cats were led by Abigayle Money. The senior from Buncombe, Illinois crossed the finish line with a time of 18:55.9 which was good for fourth place out of 113 runners. Emily Staal was close behind her teammate to finish in the top ten with a time of 19:20.1. Rebecca Loya finished in 14th with a time of 19:43.9 and Janelle Stall just missed a top 20 finish with her time of 20:06.7. Lauren Cowden crossed the line with a time of 21:39.2 while Gracie Gatton recorded a time of 22:47.6. Naomi Foskett and Jacquline O’Harver rounded out the Lady Cat field with times of 24:18.8 and 25:11.3 respectively. The Lady Cats have now finished third and fourth in their first two meets of the season, both against very competitive fields.

In the men’s 8k, the Bobcats recorded a time of 2:18.52 for a ninth-place finish. Out of the 163 runners, freshman, Tanner Bailey (Piedmont, Oklahoma) finished in fifth place with time of 25:41.2. Just seconds away from a top three finish, Bailey has now finished in the top five in both early meets, against outstanding competition. Janvier Irakoze turned in a time of 27:13.2 followed by Cole Chafin and his time of 27:23.4. Drew Rose crossed the finish line with a time of 29:14.3, Logan Fraker recorded a time of 29:20.5, Daniel Chupp finished with a time of 29:28.0, Eric Burns recorded a 31:47.4 and teammate Alex Frizzell was right on his heels with a time of 31:54.2. Ethan Lollman finished with a time of 31:59.5 and teammate Ian Hearn rounded out the Bobcat scoring with a time of 32:17.2.

The Bobcats and Lady Cats will next hit the course September 30 at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, AR.
