Week Three of the High School Football season sees three lakes area teams in close games while two others get big wins.

Branson 21 Willard 19
In a match-up of two teams searching for their first win, this game had plenty of momentum shifts. The Pirate Defense got five turnovers and two big special teams play and the offense used that momentum to hang on for the win. Branson, held to only a field goal in their first two games, got their first touchdown of the season on a Cade Grimm second quarter run to tie the game at seven, then quarterback Luke McCormick scored on a pair of keepers in the second half. The Tigers kept pace, but missed the extra point on their second touchdown and failed to get a two-point conversion to tie it up after scoring in the game's final minute.

Batesville 25 Harrison 24
The Goblins' first loss of the season comes in overtime on the road in a game they lead almost the entire way. Harrison built a 10-0 lead going into halftime, then extended it later to a 17-6 lead before the Pioneers get a late third quarter touchdown and a late fourth quarter field goal to tie the game at 17 and send the game into overtime. The Goblins scored first on a Braden Long touchdown run but the Pioneers answered a touchdown and 2 point conversion to get the win.

Marshfield 28 Hollister 20
This game stayed close all night with the Blue Jays getting a touchdown each in the first and second quarter while the Tigers put one on the board early in the second quarter but missed the extra point giving the home team a 14-6 lead at halftime. After a scoreless third quarter, both teams get touchdowns early in the fourth with Hollister missing a two-point conversion on their score that would have given them the lead. Marshfield answered with a touchdown to go up eight then hold on for their first win of the year while the Tigers drop to 1-2.

In the other Lakes Area games, both Reeds Spring and Forsyth get big wins to go to 2-1 on the season. The Wolves win at home over Springfield Catholic 56-7 while the Panthers get a road win at Clever 49-28. Also in the region, Berryville loses their home opener to Greenland 41-7 while Yellville-Summit gets a 52-6 win over Decatur.

One of the top games in the area and Missouri Top Ranked Class 5 Carthage hosting Number Four Class 6 Nixa with the visiting Eagles rallying with just over a minute to go to get the 22-21 win.
