Basketball Saturday: Opening, Closing of Postseason Play

MOARK Sports covering six different postseason basketball games Saturday.

Branson
The Branson Lady Pirates end their season with a 50-42 loss to host Marshfield in Class 5 District Play. After the Lady Pirates started the second quarter on a 4-0 run, the Lady Blue Jays answered with a 10-0 run to take a lead they would never give up. Branson closed the gap to three at halftime, but Marshfield took control in the second half at one time leading by 13 points. Senior Cloe Grimm led Branson with 17 points. 

The Branson Boys lose a tough one to West Plains in first round action as the Pirates rallied from a 10 point deficit to take the lead, only to see the Zizzers score the final four points including a lay-up off a miss at the buzzer for a 56-54 win. Senior Kyle Scarbrough scored 22 to lead Branson.  

Blue Eye
The Blue Eye Girls win another District Championship as the Lady Bulldogs roll to a 68-42 win over the Crane Lady Pirates. Though the game was much closer, the Blue Eye Boys also beat Crane for the Class 2 District Title at Billings with the Bulldogs holding off the Pirates 61-57. Both teams will play in the Class 2 State Sectional at Carthage on Wednesday with the Girls playing Miller, the Boys College Heights.   

Harrison
The Winter Storm also delayed the start of the 4A Regional Basketball Tournament in Farmington with Harrison's games scheduled for Thursday now being played today. The Lady Goblins picked up a 40-34 win over Dardanelle to move on to Sunday's second round and also secure a spot in next week's State Tournament in Magnolia with the opportunity to defend their State Title from 2021. The Harrison Boys match-up against Morrilton went the Goblins way as well as they rolled to a 60-42 win to also advance to tomorrow's semi-final and to the State Tournament. Sunday, the Lady Goblins will play Prairie Grove at 1:00, the Goblins match-up with host Farmington at 5:30. Both games will again be on MOARK Sports Dot Com and 94.9 FM/AM 900 KHOZ.
