Area Athletes Win District, Sectional Championships, Move On

Missouri High Schools are in Postseason Track Competition with Class 1, 2, and 3 schools in Sectional Meets looking to advance to the State Finals while Class 4 and 5 Schools including Branson are in District Meets

Two Branson Athletes claim District Championships at the Class 5 Meet at Nixa. Tristen Bough took home first in the Boys 800 Meter Run while Chris Vineyard claimed the top spot in the Boys 110 Hurdles. Vineyard also qualified for next week's Sectional Meet in the 300 Meter Hurdles with other qualifiers including Hunter Reynolds in the Boys 110 Hurdles, Maxwell Chapman in the Boys Pole Vault, and Jacob Burton in the Boys Triple Jump. Also, Lily Holmes will represent the Branson Lady Pirates qualifying in both the 100 and 300 Meter Hurdles. Three Relay Teams also qualified for Sectionals, the Boys 100, 400, and 800 Meter Relay Teams. 

Class 1, 2, and 3 Sectional Champions
Area Class 1 and 3 Schools were at Sectional Meets in Mountain Grove. Crane garnered five Sectional Championships including two for Lily Woodward in the Girls Long and Triple Jumps along with Calen Faucett placing first in the Boys 3200 Meter Run. Two Relay Teams, the Girls 100 and 200 teams, won Sectional Championships. The Pirates earned six other top four finishes that will send those athletes to next weekend's Class 1 State Meet in Jefferson City. 

Galena High School picked up two Sectional Championships in the High Jump with Kaessha Walter winning the Girls title and Wyatt Doak the Boys. The Bears earned a seven other spots in the Class 1 Track Championships. 

Hollister and Reeds Spring were in the Class 3 Competition at Mountain Grove. The Tigers will have five spots in the state meet with two people, Sinry Mendoza who qualified in four events including taking first in the Boys 1600 Meter Run while Noah Richardson qualified in two events. While the Wolves did not get and first place finishes, they did qualify for state with Emmarae Thompson and Allie Johnson along with the Boys 800 Meter Relay Team. 

The School of the Ozarks competed in two different meets with the Girls in the Class 1 Sectional at Mountain Grove qualifying in three events while the Boys were at the Class 2 Sectional at Blue Eye where Shadrach Thompson won the Boys Javelin, earning one of the Patriots six spots in next week's state meet. 

Host Blue Eye earned a total of four spots in the Class 2 State Meet next weekend.
